Wilson Flow Grids -
Permanent fixing for Square, Rectangular and Circular Ducts THE WILSON
FLOW GRID 100% REPEATABILITY
The Wilson Flow Grid is an entirely new airflow-measuring device for
installation in ducting. Based on fundamental principles, it provides
a simple reliable and continuous output.
The Grid consists of a set of parallel tubes connected by manifolds.
The tubes are perforated in such a way as to provide a single differential
pressure signal, which is proportional to the square of the mean velocity
in the airway. By connecting the output tubes to a suitable instrument,
the pressure difference and hence the volume flow rate can be easily
measured.
FEATURES
SIMPLICITY: It is simple to use and simple in operation.
VERSATILITY: It can be used in most locations and operating conditions.
RELIABILITY: It has no moving parts and gives long-term reliability
with very little maintenance.
EFFICIENCY: It has a negligible effect on the airflow in the duct.
POWER: It provides a differential pressure output approximately
2.5 times the duct mean velocity pressure.
ENERGY SAVING: Helps reduce energy wastage.
COMPATIBILITY: Suitable for use with manometers and transducers.
BENEFITS
Large Signal: The output pressure from the Flow Grid is greater than
that from a pitot static tube array. This means that it can be used
at a much lower velocity, and allows the use of data loggers, recorders
and pressure transducers in conditions hitherto discounted. The Wilson
Flow Grid also eliminates complicated pipework needed for connecting
a number of pitot static tubes together as well as being less costly.
Low Pressure Drop: Insertion losses are much lower than with an
orifice plate, eliminating the need for extra fan capacity to compensate
for wasted energy. Orifice plates are expensive to manufacture in
the larger sizes, and the critical positioning of the pressure tappings
means that the plate and the section of the duct need to be engineered
as a single component. By contrast, the Wilson Flow Grid is simply
fixed into the duct at the selected monitoring point.
Reliable: The Wilson Flow Grid is a fundamental instrument with
no moving parts and therefore has an advantage over devices such
as rotating vane flow meters. It needs very little maintenance and,
used with a liquid-filled manometer will give reliable readings
for long term flow monitoring. Self Powered: No electrical supply
is required as the output is in the form of a differential pressure
signal, which can be piped away to a convenient point. As there
is no air flow through the small bone pressure pipes, these can
be as long as required.
