Type 5 -
More compact than the Type 4, this outfit was developed to meet the needs of engineers whose requirements do not extend to quite such high pressures, and who do not normally need the facility of using two manometers simultaneously. All the precision of the Type 4 is retained (the Type 5 comprises basically the short limb of the Type 4) as also are most of the features which make the larger set so convenient to use. The same levelling and zeroing arrangements are provided, and the space behind the panel houses two coils of PVC tubing, a 0.48 m (1.6 ft) long pitot static tube, manometer balancing valve, spare fluid and funnel, air velocity scales and a slide-rule type air velocity calculator and a thermometer reading 0° to 60°C (32° to 140°F). A Pascal (Sl) scale is fitted as standard but loose metric and imperial pressure and velocity scales are supplied. Type 5 Tripod Built-in legs are not practical on a set of this size, and to overcome the problem a tripod is available. The telescopic legs can be locked at any height from 46 mm (1.8 in.) to 1070 mm (42 in.) and the centre column can be further extended to a total height of 1400 mm (55 in.).
