Reliability since they do not rely on the medium's attributes to determine flow. The "von Karman Vortex Street" phenomena serves as the foundation for the measuring concept. The sensor detects pressure differences generated on both sides alternately and counts the number of such fluctuations, which is directly proportional to the flow speed.  

Vortex metres have two key advantages over orifices and turbine metres: they are less sensitive to changes in process conditions and wear less. Additionally, the upfront and ongoing costs are cheap.
